Clowns - Beatniks Trade

The Clowns and Beatniks completed a trade this evening.

The Clowns send Carson Kelly (.04 21+) and Adam Frazier (.10 22+) to Eukennott while the Beatniks send Kurt Suzuki (.01 20+) and Corey Seager (.20 21!) to the Clowns.

Pre-Opening Day Trade

Just ahead of Opening Day, the Clowns trade Keon Broxton (.10 21+) to the Beatniks for Erik Gonzalez (.10 21+)

Clowns/Beatniks Trade

The Clowns and Beatniks completed a trade this morning.

The Clowns send Corey Seager (.07 X) and Nick Kingham (.09 20+) to the Beatniks in exchange for Bryce Harper (.47 20+) and Brett Cecil (.01 20+).

Last Minute Deal and Roster Cut Reminder

As the final minutes tick away, final roster tinkering took place.  The Beatniks acquired David Freese (.05 18+) from the Kenndoza Line in exchange for the Beatniks 9th Round pick.

REMINDER:  Roster Cuts are due by 3pm CENTRAL time Sunday, March 27th.  Technically that's today.

I have received two teams' cuts thus far.  My schedule is full tomorrow and I won't have time to review, process and post the cuts until tomorrow night around 9pm or 10pm.  Please, please, please, do not make me chase you down for your cuts at 3:05pm.

Line/Beatnik before the deadline

With just days remaining before Roster Cuts are due, the Line and Beatniks made a deal.

Kenndoza sends Travis Jankowski (.15 18+) and Forrest Wall (.05 Mx) to the Bereted Ones for Derek Law (.05 18+) and their 4th Round pick.

Trade Season Opens with a Deal Among Rivals

The long standing rivalry between the Beret Topped Beatniks and the Flannel Wearing Rebels added another chapter to their history as they opened the 2017 Trade Season.

The Beatniks sent Brandon Drury (.01 18+) and Mike Montgomery (.05 18+) to the beautiful vista and climes of Fort Payne and Dem Rebels sent in return the newly acquired Curtis Granderson (.15 W) to wherever in the hell Eukennott is.

First Trade of the 2016 Season

The first trade of the 2016 season has been completed and . . . hey!  here's a surprise - it involves the Clowns.

For some reason the Clowns wanted to pick up a Chicago Cub so they approached the Beatniks and the result was:

Clowns trade Brandon Drury (.01 18+) to the Beatniks in exchange for Javier Baez (.05 18+).

Deadline Deal

With four days remaining until the Roster Freeze Deadline, the Beatniks and Line pulled off a deal.

The Beatniks traded the alliterative (Beatniks words) Freddie Freeman (.34 17+) and Shawn Kelley (.05 17+) to the Line in exchange for a trove of minor leaguers:  Billy McKinney (.02 Mx), Aaron Blair (.10 Mx) and Albert Almora (.05 Mx).

Rumor has it the Beatniks wouldn't complete the deal unless Cliff Lee was thrown in.  Once they were convinced the Killers have Lee, the Beatniks completed the deal quickly and then consulted their CFCL rolodex for the number to the Killers front office.

Beatniks on the Prowl Again

Showing they are not afraid of the Ruffins and, in fact, willing to do whatever is necessary to chase the Ruffins down, the Beatniks made a deal with the Revenge.

Beatniks trade Dee Gordon (.10 16!), Matt Holliday (.27 16+) and Arismendy Alcantara (.10 16x) to the Revenge, receiving in return Carlos Gonzalez (.37 17+), Daniel Murphy (.13 15) and Mike Foltynewicz (.08 17+).

Rebels are on the clock.

Clowns - Beatniks Trade

Fresh off a 4000 mile bike ride and not wanting to take the Ruffins charge lying down, the Beatniks traded with the Clowns who are proving to be an equal championship run opportunity trader.

The Clowns sent Andrelton Simmons (.10 15!) to the Beretheads for Julio Teheran (.02 15).

Five days, one and a half hours remain in the trade deadline.

Beatniks - Kenndoza Line Trade

The Beatniks, smelling blood and opportunity, pulled off a 14 player trade with the Kenndoza Line.  Quite honestly Mr. Berethead should be focusing on his home brew rather than the boys playing down hard by the Eukennott River.

Clowns Continue Their Trading Ways

The Clowns continued their trading frenzy finding a repeat partner and a new one within minutes of each other.

The Clowns traded Ryan Braun (.39 17+) to the Beatniks in exchange for JP Crawford (.10 Mx).

Then they contact the DoorMatts and completed this trade:

Clowns send Corey Spangenberg (.10 17+), John Axford (.02 17+) and Brayan Pena (.01 17+) to the Matts for Chris Owings (.13 16+) and Javier Lopez (.10 17+)

Beatniks/Clowns Trade

Not waiting for any grass to grow under their feet and to maintain their commanding domination over Dem Rebels, the Beatniks made a deal with the Clowns.

The Beatniks send Santiago Casilla (.01 16+) and Rob Kaminsky (.02 Mx) to the Clowns for Gio Gonzalez (.16 17+). 

This trade could easily have just guaranteed the Beatniks their first championship in team history.

Clowns Continue Their Make-Over

The Candy Colored Clowns continued their 2015 efforts by completing their 2nd and 3rd trades in the last two weeks while the Beatniks and Revenge retooled themselves for the stretch run to try and catch up with the improvements the Kenndoza Line made last month.

The Clowns traded favorite Aroldis Chapman (.13 14!) and Nick Wittgren (.02 Mx) to the Revenge in exchange for Rex Brothers (.06 16+) and hopeful Cub Uber-stud Jorge Soler (.02 Mx).

Then the Clowns turned around and traded Santiago Casilla (.01 16+), Carl Crawford (.13 14), Jorge de la Rosa (.01 16+) and Mike Leake (.04 16+) to the Beatniks for Jacob de Grom (.05 16+), JT Realmuto (.02 16x), Hunter Renfroe (.05 Mx) and Justin Ruggiano (.06 14).

The Revenge have positioned themselves to pick up significant points in H/S and K:BB as long as no line drives come past the pitcher's mound again.

The Beatniks helped themselves in multiple categories as long as all the players involved can spend more time between the white lines rather than the training table.

The Clowns plugged some injury holes on their Active Roster, built for the future and, most astonishingly may have set a record by now holding 15 minor leaguers on their Reserve Roster.

Bitter Rivals Conspire on First Trade of the Season

With the Beatniks able to see first place without binoculars since, well, maybe ever, they looked around to see where they could make some improvements.  Like last year, they had a surplus of starting pitching and a dirth of speed.  And, like last year, the Beatniks turned to their hated rivals, Dem Rebels for some help.

In a deal just announced this morning, the Beatniks traded Ian Kennedy (.02 16+), Brandon Crawford (.04 16+) and Austin Meadows (.05 Mx) to Dem Rebels in exchange for speed demon Dee Gordon (.05 15+) and Justin Ruggiano (.06 14).

Last year the Beatniks acquired Ben Revere for Mike Minor and others.  Less than a week after the trade Revere broke his foot and was essentially useless the remainder of the season.  That experience didn't stop the Beatniks from trying it again. 

"I had my scouts sitting in the stands down in that pit he calls Confederate Park with a high-powered sonogram and focused it on all of Gordon's appendages," said Head Beatnik, Nick Hansen.  "Reports came back that his bone structure was solid and we shouldn't have a repeat from last year.

When asked why he would make a trade with a hated rival, Head Rebel Rich Bentel responded "This trade made so much sense on many levels.  We need starting pitching since we don't seem to recognize that as a component during the actual draft.  And when you look at the players we received, it matches with our team chemistry.  Crawford almost sounds like crawfish which is one of the delicacies we sell at our concession carts.  Kennedy is reminiscent of aristocracy, blue blood, cogentry that we despise down here. . . oh wait, that doesn't make any sense.  But with Meadows we figured we can't have enough 19 year old prospects on our team.  He's essentially the same age as my oldest daughter.  I looked at her over dinner last night and thought 'Can you really cover centerfield and get on base at a .360 clip?'  I have faith."

Kenndoza Line/Beatniks Trade

In a blockbuster for the ages the Beatniks and Kenndoza Line swapped relief pitchers.

The snake-bit Beatniks are admirably fighting to stay in the money spot and hopefully capture the Copperfield Trophy.  Having watched a recent trade acquisition (Revere) and a starting rotation mainstay (Hudson) go down with lower extremity injuries, the Beatniks needed to provide a little punch to their bullpen.  They acquired Rafael Bentancourt (.09 13) in exchange for Drew Storen (.08 15+) and their sixth round pick.

The Kenndoza Line continue to retool by making their third trade and acquiring more underpriced talent.

Beatnik/Rebel Trade

To send a message to the Clowns, Bulls and Ruffins, the Beatniks stated "I've been in first for most of this season and I'm not giving up without a fight!  Where's my homemade beer?"

The Beatniks picked up some needed help on the basepaths and in the bullpen today by acquiring Ben Revere (.27 15+) and JJ Putz (.12 13).  To get that help they traded Mike Minor (.07 15+), Zach Lee (.02 Mx) and Brian Goodwin (.05 Mx) to the Rebels.

The Rebels are hoping Minor can give a little "oomph" to their rotation and pick up some points in pitching.  Having plenty of relievers on staff already allowed them to part with Putz.  Additionally with Hill, Ruiz, Stanton and Tabata all returning from injuries and Marte having a stellar sophomore season, Revere became expendable on the offensive side of things.  According to anonymous insiders Rebel management, while not wanting to disrespect any co-owner, is hoping this deal and the renewed health of the club will allow the team to pass another team that didn't complete their roster until days after the draft with the scraps that were left after the rotation draft.

K-Wood Winner 2013

Congratulations to the DoorMatts for winning K-Wood Day.  Riding the arm of Madison Bumgarner (seven strikeouts) and his bullpen (three strikeouts), the DoorMatts were the only team to reach double digits.

The Danger (Arroyo - 7 strikeouts), Killers (Maholm - 6 strikeouts) and Beatniks (Lee - 6 strikeouts) tried to make a game of it, but it was the bullpens that proved to be the difference.  The DoorMatts had help from theirs and the Danger, Killers and Beatniks didn't.

Beatnik - Revenge Trade

The Eukennott Beatniks have not lost the feel of running a baseball team despite taking a two year hiatus. In their second deal this spring, they trade set-up specialist Eric O'Flaherty (.01 12+) to the Revenge in exchange for Brandon Phillips (.29 12+).
