The First trade (possibly) of Gonzalezes's'ss

The Candy Colored Clowns trade Adrian Gonzalez (.26 14+), Cole Hamels (.39 15+) and Didi Gregorius (.01 15+) to The Swing for Carlos Gonzalez (.48 15+).

The Clowns reacquire Cargo while The  Swing continue in the tradition of their previous owner by locking up more solid pitching to go along with Kershaw, Wood and Cain.

Winter Waivers Round 2 Results

The activity sure slowed down for Round 2, but there was action - ensuring a Round 3.  Here are the results.

Banquet Reminder!!
Don't forget!  Next Sunday, January 19th at 4pm is the CFCL Banquet.  HomeRun Inn on 75th and Lemont Road.  All six local teams (seven owners) have said they are coming and we may even have one or two former owners in attendance if schedules align.

Round 3 Deadline
The Deadline for making claims for Round 3 is Thursday, January 16th at 3pm.

Winter Waiver - Round 1 Results

The results are in.  Some interesting claims.  The Swing jumped right into things by trying to claim almost everyone waived.  Also interesting is four players from the vaunted 9th place team were claimed.  Either the Rebels don't know what they're doing (most likely) or EVERY OTHER TEAM made a mistake (highly unlikely).

The first list is the list of successful claims.  The players listed in (parenthesis) are available for Round 2.  Deadline for making claims is Sunday, January 12th at 3pm CST.  Players italicized were claimed by more than one team.

Winter Waiver Correction

There is an adjustment to the players available in the first round.  Here's the end of the story.

Scott Elbert and Jonathan Pettibone werer listed as available.  They are not currently on any CFCL team and therefore are ineligible for Winter Waivers.

Jaime Garcia .05 and Sam LeCure .05 were omitted from the original list and have been added to the post from Sunday, January 5th.

Anyone that has submitted their Winter Waivers to the Commissioner already  is able to resubmit a new list.  Whatever is in my mailbox on Thursday at 3pm will be considered final.

Winter Waivers - 2013

At long last we have reached the first best time of the year! Winter Waivers! Below is the list of all the players that have been cut and their salaries. Before you dive into the players and drool over your wish list PLEASE READ THESE BULLET POINTS!

• The players on this list include American League players, National League players, Free Agents (in MLB) and Retired Players. ALL of them are eligible to be claimed in Winter Waivers. If you claim a player in the AL, you must cut them if they are still in the AL as of Roster Cut Day.
• If you successfully claim a player or players you MUST waive the same number of players you claim. This may seem obvious since we all had to cut down to 23 players but . . .
• . . . as of the end of the 1st round (Thursday - more on this in a moment) TRADE SEASON IS OPEN! If you make a trade it is entirely possible that you could make a 3 for 2 trade where your roster would stand at 22 players. Doesn't matter. Even if you have 22 players and want to claim a Winter Waiver in the second round, you must waive a player.
• The First Round of Winter Waivers Deadline is Thursday, January 9th at 3pm CST. This is a hard deadline. I WILL NOT be chasing you down to see if you meant to make a claim. If I don't receive an e-mail with waiver claims from you by Thursday at 3pm CST then I will assume you don't want to make a claim.
• When you submit your claim a) please put Winter Waiver Round 1 in the subject line so I know not to open the e-mail until I've submitted my claims, and b) List your claims in the order you want them. It makes a difference.
• E-mail me with any questions you may have or (even better) reference the Constitution to make sure you remember all the rules. The above bullet points are not a comprehensive list of everything pertaining to Winter Waivers. It's just the high points on things that could easily be tripped over.

Ok, last thing. I have posted an updated Excel Roster Spreadsheet to download at the right. Also, I understand that sometime Monday (tomorrow) Mike Coulter (On-Roto Czar) will be updating the OnRoto rosters so if there's anything there that you want with last year's information, you may want to grab it today.

Happy Holidays . . . But Winter Waivers Is Just Around The Corner

First of all, Happy Holidays to you Merry Gentlemen.  I hope each of you has a wonderful time with your family and the holidays are everything you wish them to be.

That being said, there's no time to snooze.  Only 13 shopping days left until Winter Waivers.

I have posted the most recent Roster Excel Spreadsheet.  There I have deleted any expiring contracts and any "S" contracts.  I have also highlighted in yellow any player that has been traded to or signed with an American League team.  While I have scoured MLB.com to look at the recent transactions, I cannot promise that the yellow highlights is comprehensive.  Please do the research you do to make sure you know what's happening with your team.

Just a reminder, for Winter Waivers you do not have to waive a player who is in the AL.  You are not allowed to waive a player who is on a LTC (even the last year of the contract).  You must cut down to 23 players (position restrictions do not exist).  Everyone you cut will go through waivers (AL players included).  You MAY NOT cut down to fewer than 23 players, no matter how bad you want to get rid of everyone (oh wait - just delved into the braintrust of Dem Rebels).

You must have your cuts to me no later than 3pm Central, Sunday, January 5th.  You may e-mail them sooner.  Whenever you send them, please put in the subject line "Winter Waivers Attached" so I know not to open the e-mail until I've submitted my list.

To keep things easy for my feeble brain, please submit a list of players you are keeping AND a list of players you are waiving.  Please, DO NOT, list any players that have expired or "S" contracts.  I've already purged those players from your roster.  So for cross-checking purposes, please just list player you are keeping and legally waiving.

As always please consult the Constitution.  Should questions still remain, please e-mail me rather than make assumptions.

One final reminder - Once the first round of Winter Waivers is complete, the Trade Season is open.  Hey Patta Matta Swing, you have been warned.  Watch out for the vultures.
