Reminders and Important Information

While you are contemplating your Winter Waiver selections a few of you have e-mailed asking about Draft Day.

A month or more ago I asked for your preference on a few drafting dates.  You all responded and . . . I didn't tell you anything.  I apologize.  Draft Day, by unanimous decision will be Saturday, April 1st.  I believe there was a general consensus that we start a bit earlier than normal (suggested times ranged from 10-11am).  We can lock in the specific time, but know that the draft is April 1st at my office.

At the completion of the first round of Winter Waivers (3:01pm Thursday, January 5th - today actually) the CFCL Trade Season is open.  You are free to make trades of any sort.  Keep in mind that if you make a lopsided (2 for 3, for example) trade and you now have either 24 or 22 men on your roster, should you claim someone in an ensuing Winter Waiver round, you are required to waive a player.  You no longer have to maintain a 23 man roster.

All trades need to be submitted to the Commissioner to be official.

Winter Waivers

The cuts are in and the rebuilding, retooling begins.  Claims are due by 3pm, Thursday, January 5th.  We had some deadline issues with the cut submission.  To be fair to everyone in the league, if your claims are not in my InBox at 3pm, the claims will not count.  3:01pm CST is not 3:00.  Remember, for each player you claim, you MUST waive a player.

When you make your claims, put them in the order you want them.  You will receive your top prioritized player not already claimed by a team in a position higher than you.

Winter Waiver Reminder

With 27 hours and 18 minutes remaining before the deadline, we have four teams submitted and six yet to be.

Use your time wisely but please don't make me chase you down tomorrow at the deadline.  I will be out and about all day and most of the evening.  I hope to have the cuts posted before midnight.

Remember, keep 23 players, cut the rest.  Don't assume you have to cut 17.  But to avoid mistakes and mis-cuts, it helps to submit the 23 you're keeping and the players you're cutting.

Holiday Reminder

Nine shopping days left until Christmas, eight shopping days left until Hanukkah but the bigger issue is only 15 Decision Days left until Winter Waivers.

Your Winter Waiver cuts are due by 3pm of the first Sunday of January.  The Calendar Gods are screwing with those of you that are party animals, because the first Sunday of January in 2017 is also known as New Year's Day!  So if you are going to be doing it big on New Year's Eve, I would suggest submitting your Winter Waivers PRIOR to January 1st.

I need to receive all cuts by 3pm Sunday the 1st.  First claiming period will then be 3pm, Thursday, January 5th.

You all know the drill and the detailed rules are in the Constitution, but highlights are:

Keep 23 players.

No positional requirements.  Keep 23 catchers if you want.

No salary cap.

DO NOT get caught in the thinking that you have to waive 17 players (you had a 40 man roster last year so to keep 23 you would cut 17).  That may not be the case.  You cannot waive an "S" contract player or a "16" contract players.  Those guys have already been purged from your team.  So it's possible you currently have a roster of 35 players.  That means you only have to waive 12 players.

Congratulations to David's Ruffins for defending their title with yet another championship!  Job well done.

And congratulations to all owners this season.  There were some battles all the way to the last day of the year.
