The Line Strikes Back!

The Candy Colored Clowns and Kenndoza Line completed a deal earlier today with a couple of interesting twists.

The Clowns trade Jake Fox, Ramon Hernandez and Ronald Belisario to the Line for Emilio Bonifacio, Elijah Dukes, Laynce Nix and Lou Marson.

One interesting side story is that according to Kenn, Jake Fox was the key. He has his son's first name (Jake), his mom's maiden name (Fox) and is a Cub so "it must be destiny."

The other interesting note in this deal is here is the first place team making a deal to stave off the determined Copperfields. Four of the seven players involved in the deal were acquired from the Free Agent Pool after Draft Day (Nix, Marson, Fox and Belisario). Maybe the Free Agent Talent Pool was deeper than I thought.

A Correction To Your Scorecards

With less than 12 teams in the CFCL, the payout goes to the top three finisher (50/30/20). The Maximum Home Town Discount and 1st pick of the Rotation Draft goes to the Fourth Place Finisher (from here on to be known as the Sweet Spot - courtesy of M. Coulter). The sweet spot gets .06 for the HTD budget. Teams five - ten get a percentage of that based on their point proximity to the Sweet Spot.

As of the standings July 15, 2009, here are where things stand.

Bulls 66.5 pts .06 HTD
Clowns 57.5 pts .05 HTD
Rebels 50 pts .04 HTD
Moore Better 45 pts .04 HTD
Revenge 40 pts .03 HTD
Ruffins 38 pts .03 HTD
Red Hots 26.5 pts .02 HTD

Wait! He's not finished.

Another trade was reported by "Trader" David of the Copperfields. The Copperfields trade Emmanuel Burriss and Chris Iannetta to the Rebels for Ted Lilly and Miguel Montero.

Making a Run

In a trade reported earlier this morning:

The Copperfields trade Prince Fielder, Dexter Fowler, Hong Chi Kuo and Brett Myers to the Red Hots for Chase Utley, Ryan Zimmerman and Javier Vazquez.

Let's Get the Party Started

In a trade announced earlier this afternoon, the Bulls and Revenge got jiggy with it. Here are the particulars:

Revenge trade Ryan Franklin (.03 10+), Kevin Gregg (.02 09) and his 8th round pick to the Bulls for Ryan Ludwick (.01 10+), James McDonald .05 11+) and Tim Alderson (.05 Mx).

With the trade winds starting to move up a couple of knots, please keep in mind that no trade is official until both parties report it to Rich AND all associated moves have been reported as well. If associated moves are not reported, then the trade is not official and players will not start earning stats for the new teams.

In the case of the Bulls and Revenge, both teams reported their associated moves at the time of the trade.

Going Behind The Scenes

Garret Jones
DoorMatts .05 (Rosales)

Michael Taylor
DoorMatts .05 (Dominguez)

In addition to today's bids, here are a couple of other notes.

First of all, behind the scenes each week Paul Mahlan has done a stellar job of keeping us honest by monitoring and changing the password for the Free Agent Mailbox. This week Paul was off partying at a 5th of July wedding so his dad (and David's dad for that matter as well), Fred, pinch hit. Think Bobby Molinaro, think Jose Morales or some other really good pinch hitter (the all-time leader escapes me). Fred was outstanding. The deadline for making a bid is 3pm Central time. At 3:02pm Central time there was a voicemail waiting for me with the password. Can't get better than that!

If you haven't already, go to the CFCL Forum. A number of new posts have been added. Some for your reading pleasure, one or two for your response. Please chime in with your thoughts.

Hope you all had a Happy and Safe 4th of July! Good luck in the second half of the season.
