Reminders of Upcoming Procedures

As we enter July we are fast approaching several benchmarks in the CFCL season (aside from Dem Rebels being mathematically eliminated from the race). Here are things to keep an eye on.

All-Star Game and the Salary Cap: With Marlon Byrd being named the lone Cub All-Star (why did Cubs.com keep pushing for Soriano to receive votes?!) it means the All-Star game is right around the corner. At noon on July 13th, the Salary Cap increases from the current $3.00 to $3.50. The cap stays at that level until September 1st, when on noon that day the Cap increases by a dime.

IFAB Day: The Interleague Free Agent Bid Day takes place on the day following the Major League Trade Deadline. The MLB Trade Deadline is July 31st, which means August 1st is the IFAB Day. This year Haley's Coment arrives the same time as the Lunar Eclipse and by that I mean the IFAB Day arrives on the same day as our normal Free Agent Bidding (on every Sunday). So this year there is no special day to remember. Sunday August 1st will be the normal bidding day wherein every free agent (including all players traded over to the NL during the week) will be available for bidding.

CFCL Trade Deadline: At noon on August 1st the CFCL Trade Deadline takes place. From Noon:01, August 1st until the end of the first round of Winter Waivers no trades are allowed. Remember that in order for any trades to be official all trades must be reported to Rich along with all associated moves. Both teams must report the trade to Rich. I don't recall any issues in the past, but let's not make there be any judgement calls with one owner reporting a deal at 10am on 8/1/10 and the other team reporting their side of the deal at 2pm on 8/1/10. Technically that deal would be null and void because it wasn't official as of 12 noon 8/1/10. To be fair to the league and the integrity of the game, the trade wouldn't be allowed.

Celebrating the 4th of July

In true American tradition, the Ruffins and Revenge partook of the American staples: Burgers on the grill, parades, fireworks and . . . a CFCL Trade!

The Ruffins send McCutchen (.05 11+), Cain (.10 11+), Francouer (.06 12+), Freeman (.05 Mx), and their 6th-round pick to the Revenge for Wainwright (.12 10!), Wagner (.02 11+), Coghlan (.07 11+), Huff (.09 12+), and Weeks (.19 11+).

The Revenge pick up a nice package of young talent in return for helping the Ruffins stave off the Clowns and make a run at the DoorMatts, currently seven points ahead.
