As we head into the final month of the season there are a couple of things to keep in mind.
1) Starting with this Free Agent period (Sunday, September 1st), all Free Agents acquired from here on out will be assigned a contract status of S, meaning that they will be released immediately from your roster at the end of this season. Unless, of course, a bid of .25 or more occurs, in which case the player has to be kept going into next year's draft.
2) As of Monday's roster moves, you can add one more player to your active roster as a September Roster Expansion move. Please remember this DOES NOT mean you can ACQUIRE an extra player on your 40 man roster. You are still limited to 40 players on your Roster. However, instead of 23, you can now play 24 on your ACTIVE ROSTER, thereby leaving 16 players on your Reserve List.

Last Minute Keepers
This Sunday, August 28th, is the final FAAB Day of the year where you get to keep the players you acquire from the Free Agent Pool. Anyone you get tomorrow will be assigned the normal 18+ contract status.
Starting next Sunday, September 4th, anyone you purchase from the Free Agent Pool will receive an "S" contract and will be released from your team at the end of the season.
Happy Shopping!

Wrapping up the Season
Sorry things have been so quiet here at the Front Office. After the trade deadline, not much has needed to be addressed.
But as we head in to the home stretch there are some things to be aware of.
Most importantly is the standings. Some amazing races, which seems to be a constant in the CFCL for the last decade or so.
The Line and Revenge are a mere four points apart with a month to go.
The Bulls, Beatniks and Rebels are fighting it out for 4th, 5th and 6th.
And the Killers, Ruffins and DoorMatts are pushing each other 7th through 9th.
But more immediate is how we handle the transition into September. So here are a couple of reminders:
During the season we typically have 23 active and 17 reserved. If you use the SRE option you would have 24 active and 16 reserved. You ARE NOT allowed to acquire an extra player to fill the empty reserve spot if you have an extra active player. You are allowed A TOTAL OF 40 PLAYERS.
Questions? E-mail me.
Good luck to all on you push to a higher spot in the standings. Now would be a good time to start thinking about players on your roster who should be considered in the voting for the various awards we have.
I'll try to put together a comprehensive list, but I have some personal things that will be taking my time this fall and I'm not sure how much dedicated time I can devote to putting together an awesome ballot.

But more immediate is how we handle the transition into September. So here are a couple of reminders:
- This weekend (Labor Day Weekend) is the last chance to acquire a Free Agent and have him on a 16+ contract. Sunday is August 31st so bidding is as normal. The following Sunday (September 7th) and every Sunday until the end of the season, any player acquired via FAAB will be assigned an "S" contract and will be released at the end of this season (unless someone feels compelled to bid .25 or higher on a player).
- Monday is September 1st (and transaction day). As of September 1st you are allowed to add an additional player to your Active Roster for September Roster Expansion. The player can be either offense or pitching, whatever you prefer.

End of Season Reminders
We are fast approaching the homestretch of the 2012 season. Here are a couple of things to remember.
1) For those of you that still have a Free Agent Budet, this weekend is the last weekend to acquire a free agent and keep him next season. That's because . . .
2) Anyone you acquire during September receives an "S" contract, which means the contract expires at the end of the current season. Also, for "S" contracts, there are NO Home Team Discount rights.
3) A week from Saturday (September 1st) you are able to activate an extra player into a second Utility spot. The player can be pitcher or position. Keep in mind that if you activate a player from your reserve to the September Roster Expansion (SRE) spot, this does not allow you to fill the open reserve spot without waiving someone. You are allowed 40, and only 40, players on your roster. For five months the split is 23 active 17 reserve. For September it can be 24 active 16 reserve. You are not required to activate an extra player in September.
For the above three points, more details can be found in our beautiful Constitution.
I have started putting together the ballots for our end of season awards. If you would like to submit some suggestions, any help would be greatly appreciated.

One Shopping Day Left
The end of August brings about some adjustments to the business in the CFCL.
First of all, you have One Shopping Day left to acquire a free agent at an 11+ contract. Any players acquired in September will be assigned an "S" contract and will be released from the CFCL Roster at the end of the season. So next Sunday (August 30th) is it if you want to get someone and keep them for your future.
The teams still with a budget are:
Ruffins .51
Bulls .40
Revenge .24
DoorMatts .18
Kenndoza .17
MooreBetter .12
Dem Rebels .08
Red Hots .05
Out of Cash:
Clowns
Copperfields
Also, as of September 1st, the salary cap increases to 3.60 (up from 3.50 since the All-Star break).
And finally, in September you are allowed a September Roster Expansion (SRE) move. Your total roster still is 40 players, however if you want you can have 24 active and 16 reserve. The SRE is essentially another utility player since it can be either offense (any position) or pitcher. You are not required to utilize the SRE, it's just something you can take advantage of if you want.
When you have a chance, mosey over to the Forums and weigh in on your favorite all-time snack.
