I thought I had posted something along these lines earlier, but apparently not. So here is the official word on Draft Day 2018.
After polling the league regarding drafting on Easter weekend or the weekend before, everyone said they could be available the weekend prior to Easter but a few had potential conflicts the weekend of Easter.
So, Draft Day 2018 will be Saturday, March 24th, 2018. Let's plan on starting at 10am so anyone needing to leave town that evening can get a normal start. That means league business, passing out papers, dealing with last minute NL roster adjustments and league photo will take place at 10am with the Ruffin Privilege taking place shortly thereafter.
You are welcome to arrive earlier - I'll probably be there around 9am.
Now, the location. That has changed. The new office (and drafting location) address is:
387 Shuman Blvd
Suite 325 W
Naperville IL 60563
It's just a mile or two west of where the old office was located, essentially at the corner of Mill Street and I-88, just north of Diehl Road. I'm sure Google Maps can get you there, but if you have any questions, let me know.
We have three larger conference/meeting rooms to utilize, so over the next few months I'll figure out which one is best suited for our needs and I can let you know about amenities (snack machine, fridge, microwave, etc.)
This is the first of probably a couple reminders/requests regarding rosters. Keep in mind that when you are formulating your Roster Cuts for Roster Freeze Day, ALL players are on your active roster unless documented evidence shows they are not required to be there (assigned to the DL, demoted to the minors). Drafting a week before the season starts will create some challenges, but keep in mind all ten teams face these challenges and no team is above any other in not having to make the tough decisions. It may not be perfect, but until some major league team hires you/us to perform Epstein and Hoyer's jobs, it's what we have.
