In a stunning turn of events, the second-place Graging Bulls have apparently shifted focus toward 2009.
In a trade completed this morning, the Bulls send outfielder Xavier Nady (.09-10+), second baseman Orlando Hudson (.12-08), and reliever Saul Rivera (.05-10+) to Mo's Red Hots for outfielder Ryan Ludwick (.01-10+), reliever Jeff Samardjzia (.05-10+), and the Red Hot's 7th round Rotation Draft pick in 2009.
The trade is a study in contrasts, with the Red Hots going all out for this year, continuing a climb that has taken them from 9th place and 26 points out of first 5 periods ago to 5th place and only 9 points back. Meanwhile, despite starting the day only 5.5 points out of first place, the Bulls apparently feel they cannot make up the ground in the remaining two months. It marks the second time in 5 years the Bulls have gone into rebuilding mode while first place, and certainly a money spot, were within their reach.
